There’s been a couple of questions about the role that religion will play in the inclusion or exclusion of an organisation here at Cardiff Connect, so we wanted to address the issue.
First, we want to remind everyone that Cardiff Connect is an initiative of CommunityOne, a Cardiff based non-government, non-religious charity.
Second, Cardiff Connect is about promoting organisations that are doing good things for the city, in an effort to make it a better place.
Undoubtedly some of the organisations in Cardiff that are doing what they can to make the city a better place have a religious affiliation. And consequently some of the organisations that we will promote here at Cardiff Connect will have a religious affiliation. We don’t believe this should detract from the work they do, or necessarily attract to the work they do. By promoting an organisation that may have a religious affiliation we are not saying that in order to partner with them, or celebrate the work they are doing that we have to agree with or abide by their religious views. If you have strong religious views that differ from one of the organisations that we promote please feel free to find another one, here at Cardiff Connect, or elsewhere in the city that you can partner with. We’re promoting change, not religion.
At the end of the day we simply want to give our followers the opportunity to find out about all the great things that are happening in the city that promote positive change and help to make a difference.
